Philippians 2:6-11 6Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death— even death on a cross! 9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
I just noticed something about this book. how it is written. it doesn't look like a letter, it almost looks like a poem format. but I know its a letter to the Philippians. anyway, I just notice some things when I'm tired, and voice them, lol. hope everyone is having a goodnights rest

Hi, Kaye...I'm back!! Thanks for posting the next verses for us to look at. I really am getting a lot out of this. Here is a great description of Jesus, who humbled himself as a man and was obedient to God and then exalted with a Name higher than any other. I know that Jesus (just that word) carries power like no other. Even for those who do not believe in Him, the name has a reverence, a power that they cannot explain. But not everyone confesses that Jesus Christ is Lord....so when do you think that will happen? and do you have a verse to back that up!
hugs, mac

it will happen when it happens, ;D, and there is a verse that says to look forward to it and to pray for it to come soon(which makes me wonder about my mom's Sunday school class that told her she was selfish for wanting Him to come back in her time) why they said that, I'll never know....but I can back-up the "it will happen when it happens", in Mark 13:32:
32"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
WELCOME BACK, MAC!!!!! (lol, that rhymes!!!)

Kaye, again I am back...I know you are feeling sick these days...so don't feel a need to post new things, etc until you feel better. I'm praying for you, little sister!
I was rereading our study verse and how Christ obeyed to the death. That seems like something so hard to nonbelievers. I am thinking of the Fox News men who were captured by the Al Queda (sp?) and they were "forced" to confess that Islam is the right way and all other religions are wrong. They felt they were saving their lives by doing this (to them) false confession. I've thought some on this and don't know how I feel about it. In the end, I've decided it's a personal call. I also am not sure either of the men were born again Christians. So that would make a difference. What do you think (anyone reading this) you would do in this situation?
love, mac

(I love coming here to read over stuff, and I promise I will not keep posting over and over to answer stuff...I just feel alone sometimes, so I come here and read stuff and answer to keep from falling into a self pity party, lol, and I have so many hours on my hands, I need SOMETHING to do, I think if I was in that situation...I honestly don't know what I would do..I know that with Jesus beside me, that I would most likely have the strength to profess Him to them, but since I have never had to be in that situation, I can't honestly say I would be able to do it. I know that death is a little price to pay, since I know where I would be going...I think some unbelievers think we are in love with death because we aren't scared to die. like Paul said, to live is Christ, and to die is gain...I think I would be thinking of that verse if I was in that situation, and I would have the strength to profess Christ, even if they decided to do what they wanted with me.

I thought also of the verse about if you deny Him before men, He will deny you before the Father. Remember the verse (can't remember where it is now) where someone died and said to Jesus, "Lord, didn't we do "this and that" in your Name?" and the Lord said, I never knew you. That is denying someone before the Father. You are so wise, Kaye. How do we really know what we would do until we are in the right situation. But having faith that God will provide us with the wisdom and strength to do the right thing, that is very wise. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us! isn't it a wondrous thing that there is a Scripture for every situation anyone can think of?
bless you! Feel better, that is my prayer for you. love, mac

thanks, Mac. I appreciate any and all prayers right now. I don't think of myself as wise. I still have a lot of learning to do. any wisdom I have is because of things people or sitatutions have given to me. God is at the root of it. without him, I would hate to think what kind of person I could be. I know the verse you're talking about, but I can't remember where its found either. somewhere in the NT. I think in the Gospels, but I can't be sure without checking. (this makes me sad when I don't know where something is, ) I'm so glad God gives us the strength to do thinks we couldn't otherwise do. I agree that it is wondrous!!! well, much love and hugs to everybody!! t2ul! (btw, I found the lyrics to the song about when we get to heaven. the one my mom loves to listen to. its by MercyMe. I can only imagine what it will be like, when I walk by Your side... I can only imagine, what my eyes will see, when Your Face is before me! I can only imagine. I can only imagine. Surrounded by Your Glory, what will my heart feel? Will I dance for you, Jesus? Or in awe of You, be still? Will I stand in Your presence, or to my knees will I fall? Will I sing 'Hallelujah!'? Will I be able to speak at all? I can only imagine! I can only imagine! I can only imagine, when that day comes, when I find myself standing in the Son! I can only imagine, when all I will do, is forever, forever worship You! I can only imagine! I can only imagine! Yeah! I can only imagine! Yeah! I can only imagine! I can only imagine! Yeah! I can only imagine!! Only imagine!!! I can only imagine. I can only imagine, when all I do is forever, forever worship You! I can only imagine.

Oh, I'm so glad you typed that out, Kaye! Do you know how blessed you are that you have a Mom who is a believer and you will remember her singing praises to God for the rest of your life! It's a truly glorious thing! yes, we can only imagine, Heaven will be like nothing we've ever seen on the current plane and dimension we are so familiar with. That is my take on it, anyway.
in Him, mac

I'm sure that you're right, Mac. and I didn't type out the lyrics, I found them on the same site the stories I found were. its easier to copy and paste than type it all out. if I typed out all the lyrics, my wrist would kill me, lol.
I can hardly wait till we get to go to Heaven!!! no pain, no need for surgery and NS/NL, lol. plus, we get to be in God's pressence!!! you know, when I was little(around 4 and 5) I thought it would be extremely boring to worship God all the time in Heaven...there were other more fun things to do I was sure. I guess wisdom comes with age. I finally figured out why it will be so awesome to be in Heaven with Jesus by my side and just worship. it will be so awesome!!!

I love that song Kaye! I also love "Trading my sorrows", other contemporary Christian songs. But then one of my favorite CDs is Alan Jackson's Precious Memories (I think that's the name) with all the "old-fashioned" hymns on it. My kids are 5 and 7 and they know the lyrics to so many Christian songs it's amazing because we listen to it almost all the time in the car!
About the discussion about what we would do in that situation, of course I'd like to believe that I would profess Christ as my Savior. I guess you do never know until you're in that position. Interesting discussion! Be blessed! Kim

KIM! So great to see you here again! I love this site so much!! These young people are so much inspiration!
Yes, Kaye, I think being in His presence with no sorrows or sadness, nothing negative, just pure and absolute joy, well, it beats even root beer floats!Which reminds me, I haven't had one in a long, long time!! Did anyone offer one to Kim??
I love this verse that was posted today on your site: For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11) I just think it says it all.
We've sort of stopped our going along in Phillippians and that's okay. Let's do something different and let's start each posting uplifting PROMISE type Scriptures like this one from Jeremiah. What is your favorite PROMISE verse? Of course, the first one that comes to my mind is "All things work together for good to those who love God and are the called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28. How about yours?

Yes, that is a good verse. I remember that was one of the memory verses for one of the vacation bible schools that I went to.
