I'd like some feedback on an issue I'm struggling with. Here goes:
Last year I taught 2nd grade at a private Christian school. My children both went there; it was my daughter's 3rd year (started in pre-k, went for K, and was in 1st last year; it was my son's first year -- pre-k) Anyway, point being, it's a small school and I knew the people fairly well after being involved for 2 years and then teaching there for 1. Well, they knew some of the story of my illness (they knew I couldn't come back to teach in the fall because I was having brain surgery for a rare condition in Sept).
I saw one teacher and one teacher's aide once over the summer; they came over my house and brought lunch a few weeks before my surgery. I did receive a card from one of the Pastor's before I left for surgery. The one teacher who came to my house I have kept in touch with. We were very close while I worked there and she was my daughter's teacher and we got along great and still do.
What I am struggling with is the fact that although I try not to be, I am bothered by the fact that none of the other teachers, administration, office staff, has called, sent a card, an e-mail, nothing. Apparently some have asked how I am to the teacher I'm in contact with but in my opinion they have made no effort since I saw them in May at the end of the school year.
I know that we all have family and friends who seem to turn their backs on us because we're "ill" and they can't deal with it. What bothers me in this situation is that I was a part of a Christian ministry bringing God's word to the community by teaching at a Christian school and those who work there have the same values but have showed absolutely no concern for a sister in need.
I know I need to not judge them and let go of whatever negativity I hold in my heart but I'm struggling with this and thought maybe you can help? Sorry this is so long but I wanted you to understand the background of the situation.
Thanks so much! Be blessed! Kim
